Arbutus Corridor Funding for Land Purchase should not preempt a New 10 Acre Park for Marpole

Att: Mayor and Council; Vancouver Park Board
Re: Arbutus Corridor Funding for Land Purchase
should not preempt a New 10 Acre Park for Marpole
Mayor Robertson and Chairperson Jasper:
It has come to my attention that the City of Vancouver wants to purchase the CPR’s Arbutus Corridor lands at market value and considerable expense.
We would trust the City would not be raiding the $75,000,000 for new and expansion projects outlined in the current Capital Plan proposal in order to pay for this Arbutus Corridor.
Further, we would trust the City would not be raiding the $24,000,000 in Community Amenity Contributions from the April 2nd 2014 approved Marpole Plan.
Also, we would trust the City would not be raiding the $1,200.000 from the Translink Hudson Street Bus Yard transaction.
We have received no information from Mayor, Council or staff as to how the ten acre land acquisition
with Translink for our new public park between Cambie and Heather at the Fraser Riverside is proceeding.
